The Region Record

The Region Record is the quarterly publication of the Virginia Region of the National Speleological Society. Any articles, announcements, or other materials of general interest to cavers in the Region are welcome. All VAR cavers are encouraged to contribute!

Send all material to Bob Hoke (Bob@rhoke.net) (6304 Kaybro St., Laurel, MD 20707-2621). Electronic submissions (e-mail or disk) are encouraged but any form of input is welcome.

Non-copyrighted material contained in the Region Record may be reprinted by organizations that are affiliated with the VAR or the NSS, provided that proper credit is given to the Record and the author. The opinions expressed herein are those of the individual author, and do not necessarily reflect those of the editors the VAR, the NSS, or their internal organizations.

Complimentary copies are sent to all Grottos in the region and to other groups with which the Region Record exchanges newsletters. In addition, newcomers to the region will receive one or two complementary copies.

Subscriptions

When you attend any Spring or Fall VAR regional meeting you are automatically added to the mailing list to receive the next four issues of the Region Record. If you attend consecutive meetings your subscription is automatically extended up to a maximum of 3 years (12 issues).

Some registration cards are illegible and some folks refuse to give a real address when they register. Needless to say, these cards don't get added to the database. The moral of this story is that you have to complete an eligible registration card if you want to receive the Region Record.

If you can't attend a VAR meeting you can still subscribe to the Region Record for a paltry $3.00 per year. Just fill out this form and send it in.

You can see when your subscription expires by checking your mailing label on this issue. The number on the first line is the volume and issue that your subscription expires.
