VAR ListservThe VAR Listserv is a free subscription-based interactive e-mail forum that allows VAR cavers (or anyone interested in Viriginia Region caving) to stay in touch. Any e-mail sent to the list is automatically forwarded to everyone else on the list. Message traffic is generally light, usually not exceeding a couple messages a day. The Listserv is moderated by Walt Pirie. All subscriptions are approved by him, and he monitors all message content. In addition, the Listserv computers check all incoming messages for viruses before forwarding them to the list. The result is a well-run forum with no spam and no flaming, just good caving content. For all of the instructions below, upper case is for emphasis only. The listserver is case-insensitive. Rules
Subscribing
Sending a message to the list Once you are subscribed, you are ready to send a message to all of the other people who subscribe to the list. Sending a short bio of yourself is a good way to start. This is called sending mail to the list. For this you will use a slightly different email address than subscribing.
Receiving your own e-mails By default, the Listserv forwards incoming messages to everyone EXCEPT the sender. If you would like to receive copies of your own posts:
Unsubscribing from the list If you do not wish to receive mail from the VAR Listserv any more, unsubscribe as follows:
Getting a list of archived files All the messages sent to the VAR Listserv are archived monthly into a single file containing all of that month's discussions. You can retrieve any previous month's archived discussions, even for months before you joined the Listserv. To get a list of the available archived files:
Retrieving an archived file After reviewing the list of available archived files, you can request that the VAR Listserv e-mail any of them you want:
